HCCA Pleads for a Hitch Free Back to School in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon
Read the entire message below Hello all: Back to school in Cameroon starts tomorrow October 5, 2020. Big day for the kids. We, in the Diaspora, we know the value of education. Therefore, more than ever, the High Council of Cameroonians Abroad (HCCA), encourages the kids to go school. YES they MUST go back to school and we support that. And that has to be done with all the safety conditions. A year ago, we gave a Press Conference (link to that press conference below) to urge those preventing the kids to go to school in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon to spare away those collateral victims from adults madness and political quarrels. This year, we are doubling down: NO ONE SHOULD PREVENT KIDS TO ENJOY THEIR BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS WHICH IS THE RIGHT TO BASIC EDUCATION. If you also support this “back to school campaign” for the children of Cameroon, please share this message in the Diaspora Thank you The High Council of Cameroonians Abroad (HCCA)

Cameroon Celebrates 2020 International Peace Day with a call on Living Together
As activities marking the 39th edition of the international peace day are observed nationwide, the ministry of youth affairs and civic education organized this September 21 an official ceremony in Yaounde, Cameroon. The ceremony which comes at a moment Cameroon is entangled in the Boko Haram war in the Far North region and the crisis rocking the two English speaking regions in the North West and South West, has been an occasion to reiterate calls for a peaceful and serene atmosphere between Cameroonians. The context of this celebration which has become historical worldwide was unveiled by Hadja Ouza Maha Hibrahim, director of civic education and national integration in the host ministry. This was followed by a symbolic handing over a flame describing peace demanded by youth leaders. The symbolic flame handed over to the minister by Fadimatou Iyawa Ousmanou, president of the national youth council of Cameroon comes after a recent declaration made by young leaders under the banner of the youth council. Regional Representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Freedom for Central Africa, and Director of the Center for Human Rights and Democracy for Central Africa who was the main guest at this ceremony took the rostrum to address the public and mostly the youths. Louis Marie Bouaka outlined the fact that the consolidation of peace is costly but absence of peace is more costly. Chairing the official celebration, Minister Mounouna Foutsou, youth affairs and civic education Boss in his key note address has underscored the values of peace. The Minister said Peace, is a permanent quest, which is threatened every day, everywhere in the world. There is need to build peace and harmony for development. He said: “The celebration of this day established by the United Nations, and in view of the theme set for this edition, namely: “shaping peace together”, reminds us that peace can no longer be the business of a few individuals. Isolated, or some personal initiatives. Just as concerns relating to peace have become the concern of people, nations and the whole world, the theme of this edition challenges us and invites us more than ever to pull all energies and all skills in order to join with the international community to affirm our commitment to peace.” The call made by the minister as the theme of this year indicates was more focused on shaping peace together, living together and putting aside tribalism and hate speeches which cause more harm than good and create a lot of division among populations. The ceremony that took place at the new building of the ministry of youth affairs and civic education located at the administrative center, ended with a mini show case of some arts and photos highlighting the benefits of peace in our country. Prof. Pondi Urges Online Media Practitioners to Promote African Writers’ Pieces
Speaking during a press lunch organized in Yaounde on September 17, 2020, Professor Jean Emmanuel Pondi has emphasized on the need to valorize and promote African writers’ books and thoughts. The Vice Rector of the University of Yaounde II in charge of Studies, professionalization and ICT Development has acknowledged the importance of online media in bridging the gaps of some traditional media and its power to break down all global frontiers in order to reach thousands of people in dire need of knowledge and thoughts. In a close to two hour exchange with media practitioners present during the press lunch, the university lecturer, writer and international relations’ expert has highlighted the works of some historical figures in Africa. Reason why most of his books are out to lay emphasis on the achievements and thoughts of these legendary leaders. Prof. Jean Emmanuel Pondi underscored the fact that the voice of Africa and Africans in general are most of the time in minority on online media spaces. He urged the online press to create more room and space that will help to make a large echo for Cameroonian and African writers with diverse thoughts that can develop the mindset of people. He said: “Today, we can’t build a global village in a one way turn with a unique thought. It’s important to diversify thought, densify it and most of all show that to have a multidimensional world, there must be multidimensional and polycentric thinking that comes from a precise point and goes back to the said point. In reality the same people can’t ask questions and provide answers at the same time. And this is precisely what we are witnessing today. So, it’s a monologue and not a dialogue…” The occasion was equally well seized by the Vice Rector and prolific writer to promote his online platforms where his works are published. He said most of his works can be found on his YouTube channel which is like a follow up of his analyses and lectures granted to his students worldwide with some specific topics that can be viewed over many years. Added to the YouTube channel is his Facebook page that creates a link with his publications and most importantly the Amazon platform where his electronic books are sold. Some of his books presented to journalists and which are on sale are: “THOMAS SANKARA and the emergence of Africa in the XXIst century”, “Edem Kodjo: Un Africain entre deux siècles” just to name these few. One of his prominent works which is of recent is the book titled “Relations Internationales: L’apport De Cheikh Anta Diop”. The book launched on April 29, 2020 in Yaounde despite the Covid-19 outbreak, portrays the famous African Scientist Cheikh Anta Diop who according to Prof. Pondi anticipated the direction of the evolution of the international system, more than 40 years before the present system.
