The fifth session as of right of the electoral board relating to the election of regional councillors on November 30, 2025 took was chaired by Dr. Enow Abrams Egbe.

Friday, November 21, 2025, in Yaounde, Cameroon, members of the electoral board of managing elections body, ELECAM, met to review final preparations ahead of the upcoming regional elections.

In his introductory notes, Dr. Enow Abrams Egbe, chairperson of the electoral board of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, said the holding of the fifth session as of right comes in to reinforce the groundwork undertaken all over the past few weeks.

He stated the main objective of the session and said the meeting will focus on the examination of reports on final preparations.

“As you well know, this session shall be devoted to the examination of the progress report submitted by the Director General of Elections regarding the final details and the state of preparedness for the Regional election of 30 November 2025. The report is expected to provide us with precise and timely updates on the logistical, material, technical, and administrative arrangements that have been made so far and those yet to be completed. This will enable us to anticipate potential risks, make necessary adjustments in advance, and, where applicable, ensure that all procedures comply rigorously with the provisions of the law and regulations in force. It is worth noting that, to date, the divisional branches of ELECAM are ready, the ballot papers and campaign documents have been produced, and the logistical arrangements are almost complete. I would therefore like to commend the entire strategic and implementation staff of ELECAM for their discipline and efficiency. This sense of duty and resilience reinforces the credibility of the process and contributes to public trust in our Institution.” Dr. Enow Abrams Egbe.

The regional polls that will take place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, for the second time in Cameroon, are expected to be inclusive, transparent, and credible.

“We are meeting today with renewed determination and a sense of purpose, guided by the republican duty entrusted to our institution by the legislator. As we enter this decisive and final stage of the electoral process, our responsibility remains clear: to ensure a credible, transparent, inclusive, and peaceful election that is fully aligned with the Electoral Code and the democratic standards that our organisation aspires to uphold.”

He added that, as regional elections will be held in less than ten days, board members are expected during the meeting to deliberate on the confirmation of the composition of the ten regional oversight committees, in accordance with the provisions of Article 263 of the Electoral Code.

Taking into account the numerous challenges that are to be addressed by Elections Cameroon’s staff, as the country recently held the presidential election, which saw the victory of Mr. Biya Paul, and who was sworn-in on November 6, the chairperson underscored the need for a field visit as from November 24, to fine-tune last-minute preparations.

Furthermore, we will adopt the terms of reference for the field visit of the members of the Electoral Council, scheduled from November 24 to December 4, 2025. This nationwide mission aims to ensure the smooth running of the electoral campaign in the 58 divisional headquarters of Cameroon, and to supervise electoral operations on election day.”

Worthy to note, municipal councillors and traditional rulers across the country will head to the polls on Sunday, 30th November 2025, to elect over 900 Regional Councillors from all 10 Regions of the country.
