Activities marking the 21 Days of Y’ello Care 2023 have intensified nationwide.
The 21 Days of Y’ello Care entered its 17th day last Saturday. Just like usual, the staff of the leading mobile telephone operator, MTN, and volunteers mobilized on different construction sites to give a push to the initiative officially launched on June 2, 2023, in Yaounde.
In Yaounde, just like in some other regions, MTN and the Ministry of Social Affairs engaged in a partnership that gives room to the construction and equipping of coworking spaces for persons living with disabilities, PWDs.
The construction site situated at the Yaounde V social center is fast advancing with the setting of walls and formworks.
Renowned artists like Sanzy Viany, Valery Ndongo, and Lucas Filatrio were on the construction site to boost this humanitarian action carried out by MTN.
Also, some members of the Executive Bureau of the Cameroon Journalists Trade Union, CJTU, Center chapter mobilized on the spot to participate in this activity.
In Douala, the economic city, the staff of MTN mobilized at the Polyvalent High School of Bonaberi where the project is directed towards the construction and equipment of a workshop for the production of ecological cobblestones made from plastic waste.
On-site active participation came from former footballer, Lucien Mettomo, Makossa artist musician, Kaisa Pakito, radio and TV animator, Jose-Vicky de Ngeng Sona, Alain Nwaha, members of the Executive Bureau of CJTU Littoral region and some partners of communication agency, Well’ Done.
This year’s theme of MTN’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care is: “Empowering Entrepreneurs to Accelerate Growth and Job Creation within Communities”
Worthy to note, the “21 Days of Y’ello Care’’ programme is a charitable and benevolent initiative created by the MTN Group, which has been engaging its employees each year to carry out for 21 days, social actions for the welfare of communities in the 22 footprints of the Group throughout the world since 2007.
The programme “21 Days of Y’ello Care”’ is a social investment policy complement embodied by the MTN Foundation. Unlike the Foundation’s projects funded by the Company and achieved over time, the “21 Days of Y’ello Care’’ is supported by the employees’ efforts. In all MTN Group’s footprints, employees define the social actions they intend to carry out, and then materially and personally invest in achieving such projects. Each year, the 21 Days ofY’ello Care programme centers on a theme related to Education, Health, the Environment, or Youth Empowerment.
