Ahead of the 2025-2026 academic year, non-governmental organization-SEKTEURA provided sets of didactic materials, school fees to nearly 125 pupils and students from the Essos neighbourhood in Yaounde, Cameroon.
As per tradition, the annual award ceremony dubbed “Realengo Prize” initiated by the international non-governmental organization-SEKTEURA, took place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Essos neighbourhood in Yaounde, Cameroon.
This 9th edition of the “Realengo Prize” was placed under the theme: “Together for the Academic Success of our Children”, with a clinical psychologist invited as the main speaker.
Massively attended by parents, pupils, and students enrolled within the framework of the programme, this year’s event, as indicated by the national coordinator, Pascal Modo Belibi, was aimed at sensitizing and empowering key actors about the crucial role they play in the education of their children.
According to Pascal Modo Belibi, there is a need to encourage parents to invest in the education of their children and highlight the importance of school in the future and development of a boy or girl child.

Leopold Fanguem, founding president of this humanitarian NGO, was warmly welcomed at this year’s ceremony. He seized the opportunity to school all the pupils, students, and parents on the benefits of education.
Mr. Fanguem Leopold outlined some relevant points that led to the creation of the NGO, SEKTEURA, and pointed out the fact that he grew up in precarious conditions, but thanks to the dynamism of his mother, his brothers and sisters were lucky to go to school.
Supporting orphans, children from vulnerable families, remains one of his main challenges as one who suffered and later on succeeded in his academic studies.
During his address, the founding president of SEKTEURA also encouraged parents and tutors to act as watchdogs in the education of their children, both in school and in the social environment.
On his part, Achille Roger Angoni Eloundou, clinical psychologist, invited as key speaker at this award ceremony, said the theme chosen by organizers is very crucial with regard to the current context in which many children grow and are negatively impacted by social media.
He said parents and guardians involved in the education of children have to build communication and help them in developing some capacities that will boost them to facilitate the learning process.
He also underscored the need for parents to have open dialogues with their children, as most of the time, many are hostages of negative friendships and bad company, which affect their school performances.
Several pupils and students interviewed expressed gratitude towards the founding president of SEKTEURA and his collaborators, who each year upgrade this programme to meet their needs.
They were awarded books, textbooks, bags, and shoes for the most hardworking and meritorious pupils and students.
Pupils of primary schools who passed their First School Leaving Certificates’ examinations, just like those who got their “Certificats d’Etudes Primaires Elementaires, CEPE”, a ticket entrance into secondary education, were awarded envelopes with registration fees.
Pupils and students who excelled during the previous academic year with good grades and marks, showing proof of engagement and dedication to their educational studies, were also compensated with sums of money ranging from 5000 to 15.000 Francs CFA.
Students enrolled in the programme of the “Realengo Prize” who successfully passed their General Certificates of Examination A levels, together with those who passed in their Baccalaureat examinations in the francophone sub-system of education, were all granted 50.000 Francs CFA, as fees for university studies.
As underscored by Pascal Modo Belibi, national coordinator of SEKTEURA, one of the main aspects of this year’s edition of the “Realengo Prize” was the special prizes granted to both the best parent and teacher who are part of this programme.
Concerning the special prize for the best parent, this was uninamously granted to Mr. Diuemeni Georges for his exemplary conduct while Mr. Tchoufac Emile Billy was given a special prize as best teacher in this innovative programme.

Moreover, as stated by Mr. Modo Belibi, the “Realengo Prize” initiative registered this year over 125 pupils and students from various levels compared to last year, which had a total of 115 participants.
Apart from awarding prizes to pupils and students each year before the start of the new school year, this programme has been put in place by SEKTEURA to help parents, guardians in the follow-up of their children through free-of-charge revision classes and daily breakfasts for vulnerable kids living in the Essos neighbourhood.
