Humanitarian association-Mori’s Child organised on December 25, at the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaoundé, the 5th edition of the event dubbed: “Christmas with children affected by cancer”.

Since 2021, Mori’s Child, a Cameroonian-based humanitarian association that strives for the well-being of children affected by cancer, has initiated an event dubbed “Christmas with children affected by cancer”.
The event, which takes place every 25th of December at the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaoundé, seeks to bring joy and happiness and to create a festive atmosphere among the children and their families.
Restoring Hope in Children
To commune with children of the hemato-oncology service of the Chantal Biya Foundation, where Mori’s Child runs its projects, there was a mass celebration read by Father Barthelemy Nkoa of the Obala diocese, in the outskirts of Yaounde.
Father Barthelemy Nkoa focused his preaching on love, solidarity, and dignity.
He said that Christmas celebration is a great day for all Christians, as it reminds us of the love we have for Jesus Christ, born on the 25th of December. It is also a day to bring together families and show love for one another.

The mass celebrant emphasized the fact that the birth of Jesus-Christ comes with healing, hope, and faith. He encouraged parents to have faith and hope for their children who are sick.
After the mass celebration, Children were entertained by teachers of the happy class project. They danced, sang, and played several games, putting some fever in the hospital.
Several gifts were equally shared among children in a bid to make them feel very special, like others who are in good health.

As indicated by Ruth Grace Ngo Nyobe, founding leader and president of the Association-Mori’s Child, this year’s event was aimed at contributing to the well-being and quality of treatment of children affected by cancer.
During her key address, she thanked all the parents, children, and partners who keep supporting her initiative. She acknowledged the fact that the project grows each year, thanks to the positive roles and actions played by all actors involved in this fight against pediatric cancer.
Speaking to the media, Ruth Grace Ngo Nyobe said: “Despite the fact that the association was created in July 2021, we decided to officially launch our activities in December, so every 25th December we celebrate our anniversary by putting at the center children who are our heroes. And through this celebration, we wish to put a smile on the faces of children and give hope to parents who are desperate and do not believe in treatment. We also wish through our numerous actions and this 25th December to encourage parents to bring their kids to hospitals, because childhood cancers are curable immediately when detected and taken care of.”

Ruth Ngo Nyobe added, “We are happy and grateful for all that God does. All this could not have happened if He were not leading our activities. And to thank Him, we organised this oecumenical celebration that highlights the venue of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus-Christ…”
Some parents interviewed at the end of the event such as Aboubakar praised the initiative and said thanks to the association Mor’s Child they feel at home in the hospital and are more than ever motivated to assist their children because they have the right to treatment.
